Before reaching the mechanical engineering subject at university, here is what we need to know.

What Is a Mechanical Engineer?

Mechanical engineer is a person who designs power-producing machines including electric generators, internal combustion engines, and steam turbines, as well as power-using machines, such as refrigeration and air-conditioning systems. Mechanical engineers also design other machines inside buildings like elevators and escalators. Thus, if you are interested in this career or you want to be a mechanical engineer, you should choose to study mechanical engineering fields.

What Are Mechanical Engineering Majors?

Mechanical engineering majors learn about motion and energy, and they study fluid, solid and thermal mechanics. Students spend their time in laboratories, where they develop problem-solving skills and evaluate and design products. The field of mechanical engineering ranks as one of the hardest majors since it’s technical requirements and the students must take advanced mathematics and science courses as part of their training.

Others Majors Are Related to Mechanical Engineering

  • Materials Engineering
  • Mining and Mineral Engineering
  • Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering
  • Nuclear Engineering

Is Mechanical Engineering a Good Career?

Yes, it is. A mechanical engineering degree can lead to careers in many fields, including manufacturing and aerospace. This career provides strong annual salaries.

Jobs You Can Get as a Mechanical Engineer

  • Aerospace engineers
  • Automotive engineers
  • Biomedical engineers
  • Manufacturing engineers

University in Cambodia Which Provide Mechanical Engineering:

  • American University of Phnom Penh (AUPP)
  • National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia (NPIC)
  • Institute of Technology Cambodia (ITC)
  • CamTech University

However, Students Always Ask What Is the Difference between Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering

Mechanical engineering is said to be the oldest branch of engineering; additionally, it provides new inventions and technology that showcase alternatives for human beings to increase their productivity and work efficiently.

But, mechatronics engineering is the combination of two words mechanical & Electronics; thus, mechatronics engineering not only combines the technology of mechanical engineer & Electronics engineering but also Electrical & robotics.

Mechanical Vs Mechatronics

Mechanical engineering teaches you about materials, solid and fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, heat transfer, control, instrumentation, design, and manufacturing to understand mechanical systems.

Mechatronics engineering teaches you how to integrate and control mechanical components using electronic sensors, electrical actuators and programmable devices such as microcontrollers & microprocessors all into one single project.
